Electronic communications policy

  1. As it applies to all usage of UVic Information Technology facilities, users of School of Social Work listservs, course websites (Moodle), and other forms of electronic communication must comply with UVic Policy IM7200 (PDF, 32 KB).
    The policy states: A user [of those facilities] agrees:

    3.5 not to harass other users of information technology services or facilities;

    3.8 not to attempt to disrupt, degrade, or interfere with the normal operation of any information technology service or facility;
  2. Users subscribing to School of Social Work discussion forums must do so using their UVic Netlink ID. Subscribers should be willing to make their names known, and may not post anonymous messages Therefore, all postings should include a Subject line and be signed with the subscriber’s name and email address.
  3. As with all School of Social Work discussion forums, subscribers to this listserv are required to participate in a manner that reflects the Social Work Professional Code of Ethics and the spirit of the School’s mission.
  4. Do not post or forward humour or “chain-letter” messages, or any defamatory, abusive, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials.
  5. The School of Social Work does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and does not undertake editorial control of postings.
  6. The School of Social Work reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
