Course planning
Your first steps in course planning are to review the BSW student advising handbook and your program requirements in the UVic academic calendar for your year of admission to the BSW program.
When planning your program, it is important to be realistic about how you plan to balance work, family commitments, course work, and practicum placements. Remember, each 1.5 unit course requires 9-12 hours of work each week and the two practicum placements require 700 hours in total. Only register in the number of courses that you can expect yourself to successfully complete at one time.
Some social work courses are not offered every term, so it’s important to discuss course availability with your advisor at the beginning of your program. If you would like assistance with course planning or you have any questions regarding your program or availability of courses, please do not hesitate to contact the academic advisor for your specialization.
